Easter Sunday

We started out our day with brunch with Jason's family. We didn't get to visit with everyone for very long because our group was at a long, long table. The restaurant was very crowded. Amelia was a little unsure at first:

Brunch lasted about an hour and a half. We didn't get any pictures. Last year we did pictures outside after we ate - this year it was windy and cold so we all pretty much just got in our vehicles and left!

After brunch we went to my parent's house. It was warm enough that we were able to do a small egg hunt with Amelia.

She found all 39 eggs Auntie Kim hid in the backyard! In them she got candies, spare change for her bank and Dora fruit snacks. Each one she found she shook by her ear - just to make sure there was something in it!

We had pancakes and french toast for dinner and just hung out. Joe was happy as a clam because there were 5 sets of arms to hold him so he was almost always being snuggled - which he likes. A lot.

Sweet boy on his first Easter :)

We got a nice family picture in the afternoon.

Auntie only had to take about two dozen to get one that turned out ok...

We hope everyone had a good Easter!

Easter Bunny Decor

This afternoon, Amelia did a little decorating for Easter:

She had a Target gift card from either Christmas, her birthday or Valentine's Day - can't remember. Anyways, I took her shopping one evening and among the items she selected for herself were these gel window clings from the dollar section. Knowing her tendency to take them down and tear them up I left them on top of the refrigerator until today since we have a little man who puts anything and everything into his mouth...

She carefully applied each one exactly where she though it belonged.

I like how she kept both parts of all the carrots together but the bunnies' tails are off floating around to the left...

Who knows - maybe one day she will be an interior decorator!

Easter 2011

This year we were able to celebrate Easter with both families. After I got home from work this morning (yes, I worked and yes Target was closed) we got ready and had brunch at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course with Jason's family.

(everyone but Grandpa's friend, Ardie - she was our photographer!)

It was tasty and I think we all left very full!

We managed to get a pretty good photo of Amelia all dressed up before we went in for brunch:

By the end of the meal her dress was covered in chocolate from the chocolate chip cookie her cousin gave her!

After leaving the golf course Jason, Amelia and I headed over to my parent's house. She dug through her Easter basket for awhile:

Afterwards she went down for a nap. For dinner we had frozen pizza from Cossetta's. Not the traditional Easter meal for most families!

After dinner we took advantage of the weather and had a small Easter egg hunt for Amelia.

She picked up right away and we ended up re-hiding the eggs two more times for her.

The third and final time Jason hid them a little to hard for her and she lost interest.

While we were outside we set up the cubes and tunnels Amelia got for her birthday. I think she'll have a lot of fun in them this summer!

So far this evening we don't have a photo with my family. Maybe we'll get one before the night is over. Maybe not though - someone is in meltdown mode in the basement right now...

Happy Easter, Everyone!

Easter Eggs

Last night we decided to dye Easter eggs with my family. I thought that this would be the first year Amelia had an interest in the whole thing. Well, she thought it was fun to color on the egg with the clear crayon:

When I dropped the egg into a color cup she freaked out. She was crying and pointing at her egg and just so upset.

Here is her one and only egg she designed:

I put her on my lap and she eventually calmed down enough to watch:

Maybe next year she will have fun with egg dye! For this year, here are the eggs that the adults made:

Easter Weekend

We have had a mostly low key Easter weekend this year.

Yesterday, we started the egg dyeing process. When Jason got home from work.

Amelia was more interested in playing with her new activity table that our friends we visited in MN gave her:

While she played we got our eggs dyed. Then it was time for me to go to work so we put the egg decorating on hold until today. So, tonight after church we attempted to finish our eggs. We got a "shiny" kit with glue and decorative foil that you put on. Well, when we took the eggs out of the fridge tonight it didn't go too well. Condensation built up on them and mixed with the glue and it was just not working, so, Jason had some fun instead:

(note the string of glue in the above picture...)

For our Easter dinner we had ham sandwiches and scalloped potatoes:

Jason informed me he had to have scalloped potatoes and ham on Easter, so this is what we came up with!

Tonight we were able to attend Easter service as a family. There is no nursery in the evening so we knew it would be an adventure. We ended up sitting in the "cafe" in the back (where our financial peace classes are) so Amelia could crawl around and talk as she pleased. They had the service projected on a screen back there:

It was nice, however, we missed communion as a result of being so secluded. By the time we got into the sanctuary the trays had already gone around. They did communion a little different this time so everyone could do it together (except us!).

When we got home we took a family picture outside:

Then we went on a post-church walk!

It was so nice out still so we had to take advantage of the remaining daylight. We also tried to get a good picture of Amelia in her Easter dress from her Grandma Rude but we just didn't have much luck. This one is ok, except she is not looking!

This one is ok, except she is sitting!

Here she is with her first Easter basket (we didn't give her one last year):

Of course, she went straight for the books!

This picture just cracks me up:

She is her father's daughter. That is all I have to say about that one!

Me and my girl:

After Amelia was in bed Jason and I had some of our Easter cake:

We hope everyone had a great weekend!

Easter Sunday

This morning I worked all of 2 hours, headed home, saw Jason for about 10 minutes and he left for work. I then spent the afternoon feeding Amelia and getting us ready for church. We made it on time even :) Her Easter dress is beautiful. She looked like a little lady tonight! (thanks Kim!)

Ready to go!

The dress without her Pooh cardigan.

This morning she wore her "relaxing/lounging" Easter outfit. It made her shoulders look big and box-like :)

She already had this dirty by the time I got home from work! I washed it by hand insome cold water right away and it came clean (not that she will likely wear it again, lol).

Jason should be home from work soon, so we will have a late Easter dinner together since I have not eaten yet. He says he made some sandwiches at work for us, sounds good, I am starving!

We hope everyone had a nice Easter.

Easter Eggs

This afternoon, before Jason left for work, we made our Easter eggs! My sister sent us an Easter egg kit to ensure that Amelia would not miss out on "making" her first Easter eggs. It was fun doing something that I had not done in about 10+ years.

Everything ready to go...

Amelia was not as ready to go as we were :)

She woke up mid-project and had fun with her bouncer friends.

Our finished eggs!

Amelia with our family's eggs.

Tomorrow I work a short shift in the morning, so Amelia and I have to go to evening service at Epikos. I hope that I can manage to get us ready and out the door on time!
